42. FRA-QDU Economy Light (S) LH3498(2A) (rebooking)

I managed to cadge my way into the business lounge at Frankfurt airport Terminal A even though the next "flight" was operated by a Deutsche Bahn train from the Fernbahnhof. I also managed to cadge my way onto an earlier train that rolled into the station by asking the inspector, when he got off the train, if I could do so. In the end it didn't make much difference because the train ended up with almost an hour's delay and the train I should have got arrived at around the same time (in fact, it beat me to Duisburg by a few minutes). I did end up with a different "flight" number, though, compared to the train I should have taken (LH3630)

Another look at the split flap flight departure board before heading for the long distance railway station at Frankfurt airport

An advertisement for the train service with flight numbers - last call for all passengers to Göttingen!

The journey was pleasant enough and I just sat where I wanted because there were few people on the train. The only problem was that I was so tired and each progressive increment of delay made me feel even more tired. The stretch of track between Cologne Messe/Deutz and Düsseldorf is plagued by endless trackwork and not a single train runs on time. If anything, the regional trains seem to have better time keeping at the moment. I was so tired with the thought of a very short night in front of me that I forgot to take any photos.

A sort of boarding gate for passengers on the Airrail service - I've never seen anyone using it

The train ("flight") to Duisburg that I ended up being allowed to boatd
