If this story is true as told, it is absolutely outrageous. In the EU there are laws against this sort of thing- passengers in this situation have to be compensated at least €300 cash (I think) and BA's standard offer at T4 is £250 cash or £400 MCO.

I'd be incredibly shocked if there weren't similar laws in the country that invented compensation!
