The XM was so ahead of its time, as long as they can keep it clean, with some reupholstering many FOTSG won't even perceive it as old. Especially the 16:9 (or :10?) screen. They hold up pretty well with time when they are half functional, compared to United's ex-CO cabin with VHS resolution screens.
MIL told me the Transat flight I book her for her Cancun trip (on a MAX west leased from SmartLynx , with dream cabin and all) was an old plane because it didn't have seatback entertainment.
Given how long this refurbishment programme is taking, I wouldn't be surprised if the XM cabin is still flying in 2029...
