Don't check in online, there's a penalty. Don't buy extra baggage allowance, it will cost you more at the airport, etc.
They joy of flying Ryanair. If you understand the rules and how to work with them, you can get a cheap flight from A to B. Be on the wrong side of the rules, and suddenly your intended cheap trip becomes on the expensive side. Ryanair gambles on getting a fair number of the latter kind of passengers.
