Maybe we are reading too much into the number... but 76 is oddly specific. I believe EIS2 was introduced in circa 2002, not sure how long the overlap was before EIS2 become standard, quick internet search tells me it was 2004, and a FAST magazine article about A330 mentioned that EIS2 was developed alongside A340-5/600, and introduced to the A330 in 2003.
Perhaps the aircraft already configured with EEIS2 will be getting the other upgrades?
The multi-year upgrade programme includes Enhanced Electronic Instrument System (EEIS2), Head Up Display (HUD) and many other avionics functions.
To bring us back on topic... if they are keeping those 319s - please, for the love of all that is good, give them the cabin refurbishment!
