My last Bonvoy stay in Montreal was the Sheraton last year. A couple of days ago I stayed at the Intercontinental (for the Eclipse). I now find my self at The Marriott for the last night of my mini eclipse vacation. Where will I stay if I come back to Montreal? Probably neither of these 3.

I love the arched bowed window here at the Marriott and the view from it on the 31st floor. I also appreciate the “Japanese” toilet, but a zozo? The front desk staff was also very friendly and thorough. The lounge is small, windowless and I really had no desire to hang out there. I grabbed a Doritos and left and I doubt I’ll return until breakfast. For those trying to decide between this and the Sheraton… as far as the physical lounge space goes… the Sheraton is the clear winner. As mentioned, up thread, the shower pressure is indeed much better than average, but the shower contraption (pictured in previous post) struck me as a bit of a gimmick that will not age well. My “waterfall” spout was already bent and had a very awkward water flow.

While I do like many aspects of this hotel so far, it unfortunately is not a very quiet room. I can constantly hear the elevators (and/or counterweights) whooshing up and down. Just a few seconds ago someone above me must have jumped off the bed onto the fake wood floor or some such none sense. Doors close very loudly. HVAC is noisy. Unfortunately the Sheraton also suffered from whooshing elevators and I’m not sure another room location would help at either hotel (but I don’t know). As dated as the Intercontinental was… it had a very quiet room… and that’s worth a lot!

Have others noticed the elevators?

Any nice quiet Bonvoy hotels in Montreal?

Update: Zozo 👎 is no Toto.

Breakfast in the lounge was pretty good. Most important… it was well maintained and not very busy. My judgment point is the croissants… in a US lounge they are universally horrendous, but these were not bad… so 👍
The bottled OJ was surprisingly good too.

I happened to bump into someone while checking out who was staying in one of the South facing rooms farthest away from the elevators and she said she could not hear them, so I’ll have to keep that in mind for any potential future visit.
