HIX Flagstaff, Arizona

What is your Priority Club status? Diamond

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked two queen bed award stay, got as booked

How were the rooms? They were fine- previous generation HIX look and very clean with only a little curling wallpaper in the bathrooms. There was a sign up saying that a new round of remodeling would be starting soon.

How is the exec. lounge? N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good -It’s a HIX that’s ben well-cared for over the years. Employees were generally pleasant and day manager proactively chatted with people in the breakfast room,

Bad -The North American HIX breakfast, which has never been great, seems to continue its downward slope. Pancake machine, while functional, was kicking out slightly undercooked pancakes and the cinnamon rolls were replaced with some sort of cheaper cinnamon pastry thing.

Other- there is a parking fee in theory but I wasn’t billed for it. Also a few signs in front of the lobby labeled’ Diamond parking only’ that were typically filled when we were looking for a spot.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Something like 25K points a night during spring break season when the HIX Sedona ‘down the hill’ was about 48K points per night. Location was right next to the Interstate, making for easy exploration of surrounding areas. Good value for a trip we didn’t want to spend much on; would return.
