HIX Quincy, MA
What is your Priority Club status? Platinum
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked and received two queen room using a Chase FNA.
How are the rooms? New dual branded HIX/Staybridges Suites property with shared lobby and breakfast area. Lobby had a small bar (we didn't try it).
How is the exec. lounge? N/A
What was good and what was bad?
Good - Rooms are fresh and new. The rooms are large for a city property. Good onsite self-parking available for a reasonable fee ($15/night). Across the street from a Red Line T Station.
Neutral - Average breakfast more HIX than Staybridge level; however, they did have very good real bacon (not pre-cooked microwave bacon) and plenty of fresh fruit.
Bad - Very poor sound insulation between rooms. We could hear the people above us walikng and the conversation from the room next door. We were in a corner room, so I imagine it is even louder in other rooms. Ice machine had a finicky sensor and was hard to use and produced very small cubes.
Other - We found a fun Chinese restaurant, Ming Seafood, within a 5 miunte drive of the property. It is an easy drive to the nearby UMASS - Boston Campus.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Good use of a Chase FNA. Even though the soundproofing was poor, I would probably return in the future if the rate was good. Both the cash and the points cost for this property was generally lower than other IHG properties in this area of Boston.
