It's not breaking the rules to call AC, ask the agent how to do it (because unless something has changed, the website will not let me cancel a booking and then use a flight credit towards a new flight).
The agent could say "Sure, but what we will have to do do is cancel the booking and re-issue the ticket, do you want me to price that?"
...versus...
"It's impossible."
