Having lived in the ME for 10 years I don't want to vist there regularly (or at all really) these days, but I'm happy to use DOH as a hub since we've run out of BA routes that appeal to us. Flying west (specifically to the USA, Mexico and Caribbean) from the UK is not really on for me anymore due to insurance issues, so east it has to be.
I'm not saying I'm done with BA, but for the next few years I think I'll be looking elsewhere to spend my Avios, which makes me think that I'll cancel the Amex PP for a while, probably the Plat too given that we are both 70 so the medical part of the insurance is no longer applicable - that's about £900 pa saved for a start. Sixteen years of annual J and F returns using AMEX vouchers has been a good run TBH. Once the Avios finally run out I'll be looking at cash deals in sales on any airline. Within reason...
