- MFM-TPE-NGO also at 50k in Business. 1454nm per Great Circle Mapper.
- HKG-ICN-FUK also costs 50k in Business. 1420nm per Great Circle Mapper.
Mind you, this isn't a "dynamic pricing" thing -- I picked flights that are available individually at 15k in Business. But the connection somehow bumps it up to 50k.
I'll give 'em that offering no medium-distance (say, 1500-2200nm) band, but rather charging 50k for Business flights of >1501nm is a smart move designed to curb abuse in Asia (which obviously was a problem under the old program). But please, could we at least have flights up to 1500nm price correctly?
As per gcmap, MFM-NGO is 1600+ miles, (with or without TPE in between)
Same with MFM-KIX, above 1500+ miles
Anything above 1500 (even 1502) goes to next band, there is some leeway to that when doing multi-city, which should have been the case for you. But unfortunately, MFM-TPE-KIX/NGO is via starlux and adding a multi-city with starlux auto puts you to next band, even if in 1000 miles distance.
Multi-city with starlux won't let you take advantage of the 1500 miles band, instead, you need to find direct route on AS wherever starlux flies from TPE, which will auto-add TPE as a stopover city.
Example:
MFM-OKA
HAN-OKA
Flights from HKG towards JPN have not been showing proper prices like you said, I was also finding HKG-FUK
Interestingly, FUK-HKG shows correct, even cathay J was available a few days ago
Regarding the HKG-ICN route, someone had posted availability of that a few days ago in this thread, but mind you, only Korean Air shows, not Cathay or otherwise.
FUK-HKG is/was available on Cathay though
