The Montreux biennale is an outdoor sculpture exhibition that takes place during the summer of odd numbered years. The thing didn't really register with me before, but I began to start paying attention during my daily walks along the lake into town. Some of the pieces this year deserve a bit of recognition, I believe, and it's moved on from being forgettable junk to ideas that make a statement. The exhibition stretches from Territet to the Auditorium Stravinski near the Palace hotel and there are 47 pieces. I fear that the exhibition will have terminated by the time I get around to publishing this post, so the simple website is worth a quick look:

One of the other thought provoking sculptures
The most interesting exhibit of all was at the port of Territet - look carefully at this one
The pieces can be viewed on the website as well as by the general public walking along the lakeside, so I don't think there is any problem with posting a few of my favourite pics here. I feel that the most thought provoking exhibit is the incredibly life-like group of tourists at the Port de Territet, one of whom is photographing the others. The clothing and style is somewhat old fashioned but nevertheless quite convincing. Other pieces along the Quai des Fleurs require a bit more thought, but there is something for everyone and a lot of it is very positive in terms of image projection.

You see some unusual sights along the lakeside these days!
The evening views from the Montreux area are often amazing
