KLM cancelled my flight from MCO-AMS with transit in JFK due to operational constraint on the JFK-AMS leg this Saturday. The original booking is in Premium Eco.

They rebooked me to a connection on Saturay but in Economy, since there no availability to get rebooked in Premium Eco on Saturday from MCO to AMS.
I did not accept this downgrade and managed to get rebooked now to Premium Economy, but flying one day before/Friday.
MCO-EDI (VS226) and then EDI-AMS (KL928) are my new flights, arriving Saturday.

I dont live in Amsterdam and actually have hotel booking only from Sunday-Friday and next Friday I have a AMS-HAM flight (separate booking), where HAM is my final destination.

I want to know if I am able to claim the additional hotel cost that I need to book for the 1 night, from Saturday to Sunday?
I also would like to know if my luggage from MCO will be checked in through to AMS, or do I need to recheck in EDI? I have never transitted in UK before from USA to AMS.
