Exactly. I DID research this. And the SQ website is clear. And now I have to wait 3 days and hope that the award space I need for 3 passengers doesn’t go away or become waitlist only in that timeframe. And then after the 3 days, I have to hope that my points transfer quickly (which is not always the case with SQ transfers) or again wait several hours or days. If you’re going to offer transfers from every transferable currency available, you should not create these barriers and contradictory policies.
Regarding fraud, the stated policy addresses this. SQ has 72 hours to detect any irregularities. You can’t book a flight that departs within that timeframe, and if the flight is after that timeframe, they have the ability to cancel it. The way it’s currently stated is a balanced rule, and SQ is already more restrictive than most with the other rules around nominees.
And again, if the “can’t book within 72 hours” IS the rule, just state that on the website. I’d have known it and wouldn’t be complaining and asking why agents aren’t following it.
