Mrs Leyland and I drove down to a state park near South Colton, about 1.5 hrs away from Ottawa.
I was trying to keep it quiet and had hoped that nobody had the same idea as me, haha.
Beautiful park, they waved the $7 USD entrance fee and even provided free solar filter paper glasses (whatever they are called).
It's not on the official list of events, so there were only about 20 cars with only 2 from Ontario (including mine).
There were some high altitude cloud but we managed to see the whole thing. It was surreal and pictures don't do it justice.
99.9% coverage vs totality is literally day and night difference. I'm glad we had taken the time to go see it.
Took us 3 hrs to drive home with bumper to bumper traffic on the 416 and hwy 22 though.
