Bringing my CPAP as a second Carry On. Anyone have experiences doing this?

Does anyone else have any experiences with bringing a CPAP machine as a second carry on bag on EVA? I have a flight next month via SFO-TPE-HKG, then flying back in reverse in 2 weeks. I want to bring my CPAP with me on the trip, but I'm not planning to use it on the flight itself. I want to bring a backpack and the CPAP inside a travel bag as my carry-on to avoid check bag damages. Do I need to contact EVA before the flight to report this? I search all through Eva's site, and I cannot find any information about CPAP.

Only thing I found that might apply is this
"Passengers who require medical attention and/or special equipment to maintain their health during the flight must follow the EVA General Conditions of Carriage to apply for and obtain medical clearance at least 48 hours prior to the flight."

I'm not 100% sure if a CPAP is considered a special equipment, and I'm not planning to use it on the flight itself. Do I still need to contact EVA about the CPAP?
