This is true. Google Travel hotel monthly search is sometimes useful but will reflect lowest rates on the calendar from any source. Several nights showing $17/night availability, but were all from 3rd parties.
Same challenge when using the calendar view for finding Amex FHR properties and rates (except those rates are usually quite a bit higher).
