It's rare for luggage to go missing and even more rare for it to not be delivered reasonably promptly. All you need to do is make your claim at the airport and make sure to get and keep the local contact number.

And, unlike the OP, don't put your heart medicine (or anything else you really really need) in your checked luggage!
