Absolutely-

Grand Wailea in Maui

Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills .. I know it gets some hate here on FT, but my wife and I love going for 1 night staycations away from the kids and have had nothing but great experiences.

WA Monarch Beach for 2/3 nights is another great use and easy drive from LA.

Another would be the Conrad in Punta Mita.

of course there are other options in the Maldives, Bora Bora and so on but I was focused mostly on closer/easy from LA redemption options.
