ibis Styles Ambassador Seoul Gangnam
Name of the hotel: ibis Styles Ambassador Seoul Gangnam, South Korea
- What is your ALL status? GOLD
- Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes
- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Book a Standard Double Room - the cheapest category. Upgraded to a Deluxe Double Room (2 categories higher) on the top floor.
- How are the rooms?
Standard rooms are classic (red) ibis rooms. They must be quite old and tired now. They haven't been renovated in quite a few years.
Deluxe rooms have all been renovated and look quite nice (with some small signs of wear and tear). They are on higher floors (9 to 15).
There are also superior rooms, which are somewhere between standard and deluxe rooms. It seems that the rooms have been partially redecorated but they have old bathrooms.
- What was good and what was bad?
Good:
Quite good location. Walking distance to 2 metro stops and the Starfield COEX Mall.
There's a small supermarket next to the hotel and a street with lots of small restaurants and bars which are quite lively during the week.
Quite good experience for this hotel type/brand. Deluxe rooms are ibis size, but not huge, but still big enough for 2 adults and 2 suitcases. Their interior has been planned well. There's enough space to hang some clothes, a few drawers for clothes, a small desk, two bedside tables, a small fridge, etc. Everything you need to stay for a few days.
Consistent housekeeping.
Bad:
No major issues with this hotel. It could be slightly closer to a metro stop.
I wish the housekeeping stopped leaving a new plastic comb every day. I already have three that I haven't opened!
- Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
n/a
- What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Welcome drinks voucher given at check-in. It's mostly useless, though. The bar/restaurant closes at 3 p.m. on weekdays and only opens for breakfast at the weekend. You can get drinks from the front desk, but the choice is very limited (water, coca-cola, pear soda and something milky). They don't even have beer.
Early check-in was possible (2 hours before the official check-in time).
Late check-out till 3 p.m. (3 extra hours) confirmed at check-in.
A welcome amenity deliver to the room shortly after checking: a tray with a small cake, a macaron, a chocolate, a piece of dragon fruit and a piece of kiwi.
- Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
The price was very reasonable (between 60 and 65 EUR per night) for a non-refundable booking made only a week before the stay.
I was able to pay a part of the stay with 4000 points.
I would be happy to return this hotel if I needed to stay in this part of Seoul.
