Checking in for non-english speaker, any advice next time?

I was checking in and the lady next to me doesn't speak English. The agent was asking if there were electronics or batteries in her bag and she didn't know the question, so I helped with Google translate. The agent said that only she can answer and it has to be in English. I asked the agent how can she answer if she doesn't know English and the agent retorted that she would never make it past TSA. I told her TSA has cards and can call up a translator if really needed. The agent got really mad that I replied with the answer to her TSA questions but eventually related to Google translate so the flyer could understand the question and answer honestly.

There has to be a policy, and I imagine it's like the TSA, a sheet with the questions in several languages. If it's different, I would like to know.
