Not at the time of booking.
And since then, we've collected more points, but the prices have likewise increased.
This is really a business hotel, in a central but otherwise unappealing location, with among the weakest elite benes of any Marriott in the US.
Let me take another look. I found the recent reviews positive, such as
this one, and on the thread here on FT - and it seemed like a good choice. I've heard the Essex House is great, but to get the most of the points we have, and getting the fifth night free, this was always at the top of what we could redeem.
EDIT: Yeah, for example, we got the place for 203k points (which we had), and now no rooms are available via points, and are $350+ per night. Nothing's available at Essex House - but we couldn't afford it on points from the start. I'm happy with what we were able to get without paying anything for it.
