I just got caught up in this HH policy. I normally make diamond from stays. By my accounting, I had 32 stays last year. I travel for bike events, staying at a Hilton near the event. I keep my hotel for the following night, even though I only need it to shower and pack my bike for the flight. I shift in the evening to an airport Hilton, so I'm double-booked. So here's the way it trips you up. You get credit for the night but not for the stay. And, it does not appear that Hilton will tell you what your accumulated stays are during the year. Maybe one of you experts knows how to check that number during the year, but I can't find it. Nobody at HH could explain this or even tell me it happened this way. Only when I read this thread did I realize that 32 minus 3 means a downgrade. Ugh. It's going to be a long road to re-qualify so learn from my mistake! Just because you show credit for a night you don't have credit for a stay.
In the hilton app click on Account at the bottom, it shows nights and stays and base points.
