I am due to fly on BA183 LHR - JFK this July in J arriving into T8 at 21:55. I connect to PUJ on AA2443 out of T8 at 07:04 the following morning for a wedding. I'm looking for some advice/options available to me for the overnighter in JFK.

- Can I recheck my bags and clear security again at that time and pass the hours in T8? If this is possible, would I be able to access the lounges until closing time and then pass a few hours until they reopen?
- Can I recheck my bags at that time and head for TWA to pass some time (contemplating booking a room for a short few hours sleep but undecided, input here appreciated).
- If booking a room or heading to TWA for a few hours to hang out maybe it's best to just hold onto my bags for a few hours?
- I have friends in NYC so considering an Uber to meet them for a few hours somewhere, either at their apartment or at a bar but if doing this I'll want to have either rechecked my bags or store my luggage somewhere.

Any feedback from anyone with past experience of this or any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is your best option - or maybe asking if you can just stay with them for a few hours.

TWA is great but expensive and you really aren't making the most of it unless you have a long stay. I suppose you could hang around in the common areas and not actually get a room as they are open all night but they might kick you out. Looking at the TWA hotel website they do have some food options open 24-7. https://www.twahotel.com/food-hall - basically Panini's and food from the shop.

The problem you have is there just isn't long enough to make a hotel sensible and not short enough to be able to easily pass the time.

My general hotel options for JFK are either the TWA or the Holiday Inn near Woodside station, which is 20 minutes from the AirTrain on the LIRR, but that would be way too much time travelling in your case to get more than like 3 hours sleep. Some of the Manhattan hotels near Penn or Grand Central can also get you to the Airtrain in 20-25 minutes (express trains) and that's another option, but prices are usually similar to TWA which defeats the object a lot of the time.
