I’d highly doubt it’s the case, since current 77W and A350 feature very similar business class. It’s not like 333 which is significantly narrower, and required tilting of the reverse herringbone. Also, a lot of airlines (eg. QR) feature the same seat on 777 and A350, which is not the case for some 787.
So I suspect that they’re just quite conservative on their decisions (and be flexible) in case of another first gen herringbone disaster.
I don’t think they’ll come up with a significantly different business class seat on A350 anyways. If (and only if) they’re featuring an even better flagship business class product, it’ll be on 777-9 but not A350.
