Either way, IB's seat selection online is notoriously bad and you may have to use RJ or MH manage booking with the Amadeus PNR to select seats.
There's generally no problem with seat selection in any class on IB awards booked via IB+. (apart from the people who try to select seats 11 months in advance, before IB has allocated aircraft)

I'm not quite so sure about BA-issued awards.
