I recently made a couple more bookings using expiring EK miles, the furthest out of which was for October/November this year, so over 6 months is possible with them.

strangely availability on Air France was very similar, but not exactly what QRagent could see - but I'm not convinced the agent had done it before. (example: Air France could see 2 seats, QR only 1. Air France could see a whole flight with one seat, but QR couldn't see it.)
I too used Air France for checking and couldn't quite correlate what I saw there with everything else, but got what I wanted so no complaints (except for an extra fee EK have tagged on).
