Total Spending vs. Qualified Spending
Haven't noticed this before and I checked a few other recent stays to see if I was missing something. I had a recent stay at a Crowne Plaza in Paraguay and went back to check my activity. Turns out my points were based on 'qualified spending'. As soon in the activity, 'qualified spending' was about 40% of 'total spending'. Other than a couple of drinks and a small meal (totaling about $25), all of the spending was cash for a room, booked directly through IHG. This isn't just a few points; more like 8000 points missing.
Why would a large portion of a room charge not be considered qualifying?
