Back in the late 80's I attended a wedding reception at Edinburgh City Chambers. Long story short, one of the meal choices was a chicken curry. As we late found out after an enquiry, dozens had the same symptoms as me, the chicken had been cooked, cooled down in the wrong storage conditions, and then it was reheated.

I only had a small portion and I was quite ill and the onset was about 8-9 hours after I ate it. Many others scoffed a whole plate and were hospitalised and it was all over the local news at the time. It really was dire for me, severe stomach cramps and in the loo for a lot of the night and next day. As I said I had a small portion as I said so the OP has my sympathy here.

So in this case it didn't take days, every case is different.

It's so long ago there's not an article on the tinternet.
