I was in HK earlier this year and I went to a MTR station to check which of my two Octopus cards are still usable after being away for four years. One expired and the station attendant told me there was a charge (forgot, but HK$30) to get the funds back. I declined because I want to know if there is a way to get it back without paying any fee. Apparently, COVID isn't a good excuse.
