I doubt TK will rebook award tickets into revenue class but if the flight have standard/guaranteed award availability, rebooking should be possible.
the guaranteed award is available as long as there are revenue sests on the flights - so it's just a matter of opening a seat in the promo availability award bucket. that can only be done by the backoffice in IST. They should also be able to rebook into the guaranteed availability bucket.
actually you have a transportation contract for a specific date that is breached by the airline by cancelling your flight. imagine you have an award from Europe to LAX. your outbound is flown, you chill in California and TK cancels your flight back to Europe and only offers to refund the miles or rebook you onto a flight in five weeks, because there is no X-availability before.
They have the obligation to bring you back on your booked flight date or at least close to that date. that is the intention of passenger rights. and passenger rights don't have a distinction between revenue or award tickets.
to the OP - contact a TK sales office. they have more power to communicate with thr TK backoffice / revenue management.
