It's not unreasonable for the resort to want people to pay cash. These upgrade prices are rediculous and they will realize that in time. I'm withholding judgement on their attitude until people report back here on their points stay and whether they were upgraded at check in and how they were treated there.
as far as I’m aware the Hilton hotel franchisee gets compensated similarly regardless of cash or points. Maybe they prefer cash because of the clientele? Credit card point churners like us might not be the ideal crowd they’re looking for
