Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Premium Twin (showing as Standard Twin on Japanese website), received the same. The hotel only had 4 Deluxe Twin and were all booked (same as all previous stay at this property). The front desk staff apologized for the lack of upgrade, and asked if we can accept a Double room with upgraded decor. We honestly could not tell any difference between the two, so settled for the Standard Twin on top floor (18F). Last time I was asked if I want free drink basket or 500 points for compensation, but this time the staff did not mention it and I just saw 500 points posted on my account.
How are the rooms?
The room was on the small side and the amenity is pretty much what you'd expect in an older Crowne Plaza in Japan. But it was clean, and the AC circulates fresh air. The room had a good number of power outlets and encrypted Wi-Fi.
How is the exec. lounge?
The hotel does not have one.
What was good and what was bad?
The good:
- Very cheap point rate
- Friendly, helpful staff
- Good location for sightseeing in Matsuyama or shopping/dining
- Encrypted Wi-Fi
- Top-floor bar makes excellent cocktails
The bad:
- Room feels dated
- Not much upgrade opportunity for Twin rooms
The ugly:
- Parking lot is hard to navigate (small, mechanized space) and very expensive (1/4 of what we paid for the room, or perhaps it was because the room was too cheap)
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
10K/night during (forecasted) sakura season, great value. Will return if in the region.
