I have the ctrip app (Chinese), but I almost always use their websites (from my computer) instead. The websites are simultaneously less busy and more detailed.

Occasionally you'll see different prices on Chinese v non-Chinese versions (app or web), but we're not talking about drastic savings.

And, some hotels are only promoted on their local channels. I appreciate the added selection when I'm going places off the beaten path. A lot of these don't officially accept foreigners btw.

However, given your stated fondness for nice hotels, I'm pretty sure that any hotel you'd possibly consider will be offered on the foreign channels.
