Workers at the historic property have been embroiled in a labor dispute for the last eight months as part of the largest hotel worker strike in modern U.S. history.
UNITE HERE Local 11 is a labor union representing more than 32,000 hospitality workers in Southern California and Arizona that work in hotels, restaurants, universities, convention centers and airports.
Friday, April 5
4:00 p.m. PT Picket and Rally with Bernie Sanders, UNITE HERE Local 11, Hotel Figueroa workers, and other hospitality workers
Location: Hotel Figueroa, 939 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90015
Note: Picketing will kick off at 4 p.m., followed by remarks by Sanders around 5 p.m.”
These pickiters travel from hotel to hotel; I don't think they are specifically employees of this hotel.
I think there is an industry wide problem with worker treatment; I doubt there is anything specifically egregious that sets this hotel above almost all the others.
