Has anyone ever seen a negative balance in their RDM account before? I guess this would only happen in a scenario like has been reported here, as you can only apply RDMs towards a flight when your account balance has enough in it, as even if an award flight needs 1 more RDM to complete the booking than you have available, the system will deny it, saying “There are not enough miles in your Skymiles account to redeem the award ticket. Visit our “Buy & Transfer Miles” page to get the extra miles you need”.
I had Amex clawback 60k SM because I (stupidly) closed my account just shy of the 12 month period. They never took one mile from my SM account but each month they would keep the SM I had earned until the 60k was met. They said they couldn’t deduct miles from my SM account.
