If you are struggling with expiring miles, perhaps you should be looking at a *A FFP that either doesn't expire miles or lets you keep them with account activity. Aeroplan comes to mind as a reasonable option...

Otherwise, it does make no sense at all to pay to move miles from one account to another, only to receive a small discount on the fare. Marriott is a far better way of topping up your TK balance in order to have enough miles for a one-way or return award.
