Agree that many times a hold on the card ahead is normal, and then they charge at the appointed date.

I've had good experiences where an individual property ignored me but a quick message from a regional customer service associate got an immediate reply. One extreme case was when I got scars from an overly aggressive spa treatment and sent photos to the hotel. They did not reply for two weeks but immediately replied when prodded by regional.
