I stayed during covid and for fringe 2018 I think. Breakfast is standard Hampton rubbish, digital key didn't work. It's not that close to the castle but fringe events are all over the place, if you like walking it should be fine (unless it's raining heavily), once I had to run 20 minutes to Waverley to get an early train though. Can't complain too much when all my stays cost 30k points instead of £200+ for better hotels, but now I'm IHG diamond I prefer that chain in Edinburgh
