My experience, over seven or so stays, is that the upgrade almost always is to a standard room on the same floor as the Club. If not on the same floor, then it has been a standard room a floor or two lower.

We alternate between the Grand Hyatt and the Regent, usually a few nights in each on a trip. The Regent has larger (although older) base rooms, and a breakfast with more Chinese food choices. Both breakfasts tend to be quite busy, especially weekends. I don’t have status at IHG for lounge access so can’t compare there. We are content with both, they are similar in quality.
