Not to excuse the Hilton but it might explain why the lounge was so busy.
Thanks for this. This most certainly explains the situation. Yes, the hotel was very busy Sunday and Monday, but it has gotten progressively quieter since. I was aware of the bank holiday but for some reason was expecting Monday to be a bit of a travel day with people heading out (and thus the hotel not as busy). It also appears to be a down week for business travel—not many that I have seen and I assume that is also due to holiday.
Lounge much quieter this evening with mostly solo travelers and couples, a few families with children. Everyone, without exception, was very well behaved. As wizla mentioned upthread this is exactly what a lounge should be. Quiet, pleasant atmosphere and very relaxing.
Hot lounge options tonight: Beef stew with rice,
tortellini in cream sauce, cauliflower soup. Cold options and alcohol the same as upthread. Lounge hostess extremely friendly and helpful. Room numbers were checked upon entry.
Breakfast has been good each day and not busy—though I am always in there early. Gym also quiet, I assume for the same reason.
Will report back further if needed but I’m very pleased to chalk the poor experience earlier this week up to a one off due to the holiday weekend. Cheers!
