When I was a student there was a local pub that had a very attractive and large Guinness sticker about 30cm x 15cm on the glass in one of the exterior doors of the pub. One of my fellow students liberated this from the door for him or herself one dark night. Sadly the master criminal wasn’t all that bright as evidenced by their next act. They put it in the window of their room in the halls of residence, a window that overlooked the main road . A window that wasn’t so high off the ground that you couldn’t identify the sticker for what it was. I and others pointed out that this was perhaps a flaw, in having it visible where the landlord of the public house might well see it.
The main craze was advertising posters from bus shelters. Someone had figured out (or was told

) how to open the shelter glass screens and then the posters were easy pickings. Someone had a BA one from memory with a tropical scene on it.
