Voting with your wallet is understandably difficult and severely inconvenient if you live in or near IVL, KAJ, KAO, KEM, KOK, KTT, KUO, MHQ, OUL, RVN, VAA...
If AY has an effective monopoly over your flying, why should they clear any of your upgrades?
You have a scarce resource (upgrade space) that you need to divide up among a group of people. You want to maximize the revenue you get from that division. It's not clear at all that the priority in this system should favor higher status members or transparency, often it's the opposite. If you see someone who will simply fly again if their upgrade fails to clear (because "they have the upgrade and need to use it") then you probably want to keep this person away from the upgrade lists. If you see someone who will not take a chance on economy, then you probably don't want to tell them they have a high chance of clearing.
QR has extended my status for like 4 years since COVID started. It didn't extend people who restarted flying with them. Why? Because if they have you hooked, they don't need to give you anything to get you hooked.
So prove to AY that you are willing to change your behavior and presumably then they will change their policies. But until then, it is all just noise...
