Yeah it will depend time of year and if there are any events for how busy La Ramblas is during the day/evening. If your going in summer it'll be busier of course as that is peak tourist season. If in April/May its still shoulder season so weekends may have some crowds but not crazy. Whichever place you stay, watch your wallet/phone etc while walking around especially in crowds... pickpockets are common in Barcelona.
