I’m 100% with you and also refuse to fly LH Y so for me the only real benefit of sticking to AY are the upgrades. I could not care less for free Y drinks or tuttufrutti candies and other meaningless stuff. For future it’s already bad enough that the base tickets needed to use vouchers cost the same/or more than before but they earn very little.. but that’s another story.
They need to have a system where elites can get more info how this ”waitlist” operates and where we are there. The vouchers are so critical part of AY program that they need to sort this out, just keep on pushing feedback up the Plus chain using management’s direct emails.
Do you have this ”6 awards given since you were put on waitlist but not cleared” thing in writing from AY?
Here is this attitude that the best way to get changes to happen is to whine whine whine, to managers directly etc..
No, the way you achieve change is by voting with your wallet, which thus far has been very difficult for people here.
In the end, unless all waitlists clear, prioritizing plats is taking away a seat from someone else. It's not at all clear whether the best business decision is to clear a plat, hold the seat in the hope of a sale or clear a gold/points upgrade. If the plat will simply buy a new flight to use the voucher they have but the gold is using it for their one vacation per year, it seems clear that you should prioritize golds. And if the plats who are unhappy about upgrades not clearing keep booking flights with uncertain upgrades, revenue management will rightly conclude that there is absolutely no reason to please these people over people who might actually not use AY for their next flight.
There is not a single European airline that has decided that "transparency" over the waitlist is a good business decision. This "counterintuitive" logic has for some reason been adopted by every single person out there making decisions on this...
