Talking *1 April 2024 **United to Become First Airline to Fly Nonstop Between US and Thailand

CHICAGO, April 1, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines today announced new direct flights between San Francisco Airport and Bangkok Don Mueang Airport, and between Newark Liberty Airport and Bangkok Don Mueang Airport, becoming the first US airline to provide nonstop roundtrip service from United’s Asia Gateway in California and New York Metro Area to Thailand. The authorities have granted the airline fourteen weekly direct flights, which will commence on February 29, 2025 (subject to approval by the Don Mueang Airport). Tickets are on sale when the FAA concludes it review of United’s safety records and can be purchased online or through the United app.

"We are thrilled to further expand our Asia-Pacific offering with this first-ever direct link between US and Bangkok," said United's Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances. "These new flights build upon our existing year-round non-stope services to China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore – together they'll provide multiple daily flights from the U.S. to East and South-East Asia along with connectivity to the broader region through our partnerships with All Nippon Airways, Eva Air, Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines"

Prior to the new United flights, passengers are without direct services to Thailand and the US. Northern California and New York Metro area are also home to the two largest Thailand-born populations in the US. United's new flights will connect Bangkok to 55 U.S. cities, representing more than 99.99% of the U.S. travel demand. The new flights will also allow customers to connect in Bangkok’s less congested airport to other points in Thailand, and to other countries in the South East Asia region with United's Thailand based partner Thai Airways, one of the five original founding members of Star Alliance.

United will fly Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on this new route, which features 100 lie-flat, United Polaris® business class seats, 150 United Premium Plus® seats in an all Premium cabin configuration. All seats are equipped with seatback on-demand entertainment to help customers pass the time and relax during their travels. Airbus has agreed to deliver 5 Airbus A350-1000 by the fourth quarter of 2024 in preparation of this new non-stop service.
