You don't have to imagine it. The EC already has. Anyone lucky enough to miss their connection on the way back is due €600 if the delay is controllable (provided the delay ends up being long enough to qualify, which would nearly always be the case on a missed connection). UA often counters with an offer of a $1000 ETC in lieu of the cash.
