Did a one-night stay this past weekend and in general, found it to be a good property. The area is bustling with activity, so if you rae jetlagged and/or unused to big city streets, you might get a bit of a wake-up call upon stepping outside the Whitechapel Tube station and experience a bit of lostling through the streams of people on the short walk to the hotel.

I like the more unique design compared to many of the (been there, done that) Hyatt Place template properties. The breakfast buffet (purchased for £10 vs the usual £15via a discounted email offering a few days before my stay), was very good albeit crowded and somewhat loud much of the time, but on some levels that is to be expected. The gym also is a bit better than what I typically encounter at a Hyatt Place and the cardio equipment is much newer.

I was upgraded to a balcony room and definitely enjoyed the view. The room was spacious and I appreciated having a desk area and a separate reading chair. The room was quite warm upon arrival. The AC system was off and it took me awhile to figure out how to get it running. The controls seemed a bit less intuitive and the fans a bit more sluggish than what I normally encounter in London. As a result, only a few hours later was the room comfortable. In the interim, I propped open the balcony door to let in some cooler outside air. Nescafe coffee packets and teas were available with an electric kettle as were four Nespresso-style capsules (not labeled for strength or regular or decaf) for the separate machine. Couple of minor hiccups illustrated below, but nothing major.

Had a major issue with how the front desk staff responded to the inoperable printer in the lobby (indifferent and borderline insolent), but the Guest Experience Manager handled my feedback about my stay promptly and to my satisfaction.

Would I stay again? If the cash rate is low or the points are at a discounted level, I might consider it, but the Hyatt Regency Blackfriars is a much better value at 17K points than this is as 12K, assuming those are the rate options available to you.
