Thats all understandable, I just ask why nobody will tell me, "you will be on waitlist position #X on that flight, but if you go one week later the waitlist will be empty".
As I can see on my flight in late October, when I booked it they can t tell ma how many persons on the waitlist for a flight 3XX days out, now the flight is 2XX days out and six award seats are taken, as officially awards clear earliest 57 days before the flight. I would not put myself on a flight if already 6 awards been taken, now I can see a flight a couple of days later, which still has no taken seats.
This is where my complaints start.
But I have the feeling the waitlist clears not for logical reasons, it clears for reasons out of any logic. It would be fair if some tells me you are at #18 of the waitlist, then I know what kind of bet I m doing..
Also I think AY should make it clear that LH vouchers should beat points in any case, because the vouchers expire.
I don t see why there should be tens of thousands of upgrade vouchers, Even if we are talking about 10000 Plats, most likely there are less, it is 20.000 LH vouchers (plus the ones the few Lumos get), AY performs roughly 15000 LH flights a year, so this mean a little over one voucher per flight.
But this is the frustrating thing, since upgrade with points, with short haul vouchers are competing with LH vouchers, it should be clear which is the best way to move on top of the list, the same with the original booking class, I had the situation that a friend of mine how was gold at the time bought the cheapest Y ticket and his upgrade with points cleared on the spot while I was on PE Flex upgrade with points as well cleared at T5. I booked that flight 2 months earlier then he did, he was a Gold I m a Plat.
