I have Magenta Max with 5 gig of data. Works fine for Google Maps and Translate. However, did have a problem on 3rd day when all data and attempted calls stopped working. Was fine using wifi and a VPN. Used a friend's phone, whom also has Magenta Max to call Tmobile. After an hour of trouble shooting, it was determined that issue was Tmobiles agreement with the various Japanese carriers doesn't include 5G and for whatever reason sometimes glitches when transiting around Japan. Solution was manually turning off 5G on phone. It did cure the no data and calls issue. Oddly, my friends iPhone at beginning of trip initially wouldnt connect with data, only through wifi but did work once 5G was turned off on day 4.
